Granbury ISD was faced with many challenges as it related to deferred maintenance and energy efficiency needs and sought the partnership of E3 to craft a plan and financial strategy to address those needs. After exhaustive collaboration and planning, a project was designed to accomplish the following:
• Over 200 HVAC units replaced older than 20 years
• T8 lighting retrofit and lighting control
• District-wide water conservation retrofit
• Field turf installation
The challenges of implementing a project this size during summer, May – October, were met head on. Through proper planning of summer construction, including the notable example of coordinating a single-day helicopter lift of 160 HVAC units, the district’s scheduled summer cleaning and summer school proceeded as normal, with all buildings returning to normal occupation procedures for the start of the new year.
The total guaranteed energy savings on the project was $281,862. Actual savings after Year 1 of the guarantee period was $323,362, which was $41,500 over the annual guaranteed savings amount.
